This logo was created for use on printed and electronic public information products to raise awareness about access. It can be used to symbolize products, places and anything that is accessible. This includes accessibility of information, services, communication technologies, as well as physical access.
The symbol was designed by the Graphic Design Unit of the UN Department of Public Information in New York. More information about this symbol and its use can be found on the Accessibility Guidelines for United Nations Websites webpage, but its use is not limited to online media. There are several tabs with instructions for programmers and designers of websites on this page as well as other resources that are worth looking at. This logo was launched more than a year ago, so it might take some time for it to catch on.
