Talking ATMs: Taking voice activation another step

Picture of an ATMThe Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) will install voice-activation technology on its ATMs so that customers who are blind or have low vision will be able to use their voice to securely conduct transactions. The ATMs produced by the NCR Corporation follow the Access for All standards and have accessible keypads, Braille stickers and multi-lingual capability. ADIB has 770 ATMs – the largest network in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The GAATES Global Accessibility News has more.

The UAE is moving forward on many fronts in terms of accessibility and universal design in preparation for the 2020 World Expo in Dubai. They are expecting 25 million visitors between October 2020 and April 2021.
